Despite the longstanding tradition of Swedish performing arts for children and youth there has been a lack of platforms where it’s possible to get a comprehensive view of developments within the field. In 2006 The National Performing Arts Biennial for Children and Youth was founded with the hope to correct this problem. aims to display the entire field of performing arts (theatre, dance, opera, performance, mime etc) that targets a younger audience. During four days in the spring the biennial tries to show the latest developments, paint a picture of Swedish children’s culture and create opportunities for networking between all those committed to bringing high quality performing arts to younger audiences. The participants are primarily Swedish groups, but international guest artists are also invited to create a truly inspiring atmosphere. Shows, seminars and workshops all help in creating the natural venue for exploring one of the most important areas of performing arts. produces a biennial every other year and is based in the city of Lund, Sweden. The next and third will take place in 5-8 of May 2010. is a cooperation between Teatercentrum and the Swedish branch of Assitej, the international association of theatre for children and young people. The board consists of representatives from the founding organisations with Ingrid Kyrö as chairman. has its own homepage:
