Pygméteatern have worked with puppet theatre since 1976, and we were among the first to bring shadow play to Swedish audiences.

We usually tell our stories to children; stories about terrible and wonderful things and about the difficulties of growing as a human being. Sometimes poetic and sometimes dramatic, our stories are always told with warmth and generally with a sense of humour.

We have developed our own signature style over the years – a combination of actors on stage, puppets, shadows, masks and music.

Add the ingenious set and lighting design and music, and you get professional, award-winning productions aimed at young people and loved by children all over the world.

When we are not performing at our own venue in Odenplan, Stockholm, we tour around Sweden, Norway and Finland. We have also given guest performances and participated in international festivals.

Pygméteatern consists of founders Sten Wallin and Michael Koitzsch, actors Åse Nelson and Rune Jacobsson, and producers Vesna Stanisic and Brita Cronvall.
