What is the purpose of culture in our day and age? What is the impact of globalization, regional politics, migration and segregation on the performing arts? How can the arts relate to people’s dreams and the conflicts they encounter at work and off work.
These fundamental questions govern the way we work.
We believe that it is possible to change structures and achieve democracy through drama and cultural expression.
We believe that there is a need for establishing forums where the current debate can be conducted through drama.
We believe that the arts must relate to the time in which we live and that drama is an essential means for exploring the human condition.
We offer an alternative way of working with issues that relate to life at work and off work.
We produce drama with the aim of promoting democracy, development and change.
It is important to us that the culture scene is artistically, socially and ideologically open to the age in which we live.
That is why we live in a sparsely populated region.
That is why our productions are based on research.
That is why we tour nation-wide.
That is why we are building an international platform.
That is why we ask questions without knowing the answers.
This is what we do.
Teatermaskinen is a founding member of @worknatverket and a member of IETM. We perform abroad, for example in Denmark, Norway and the UK. We organize international festivals, seminars, residencies and guest performances through our platform Quatrohelixmaskinen.
